Shadow Juice – The Shake

Shadow Juice is back in the Vapestar Laboratory!….. Well, more of a desk with a collection of wire, tools and assorted nick nacks but what’s a few bunsen burners between friends! I’ve looked at a couple of the Shadow Juice range previously and Yellow Bliss in particular was a firm favourite. Today we are looking at a great new profile in, The Shake, take a gander.

This is not just the average milkshake. The blend of Banana, ice cream and the hint of Strawberry, delicately folded together has created this smooth, velvety, flavoursome vape. This coupled with our cooling effect, mimics the perfect milkshake concoction.

YES! Finally someone who gets it. Milkshakes are cold! I’ve moaned about ice cream vapes and the like missing this crucial element in their blending and it looks like Shadow Juice are the brave line addressing this issue. Banana is always cause for trepidation but banana Milkshakes never taste like real bananas anyway so if this has that candy edge about it atleast it wont be totally unexpected. I have to say though I don’t think I’ve ever had a milkshake with two fruits in, usually that’s a smoothie but who cares….both are good!

Lid up – Wow. I wasnt expecting such a good blend right off the bat. Shakes and smoothies tend to come together in the vaping but you get plenty of creamy banana straight away. Nothing synthetic about it either, freshly peeled and straight to the blender the banana is excellent. A good scattering of fresh ripe strawberries are also coming through clearly. Inhale – Boom! A vapour that is well bodied and carries a decent weight gives substance to the milkshake element of this juice, its far better than 90% of the Juice I review getting the balance just right. It feels satisfying to draw to lung and no throat hit to mar the experience Shadow Juice have really turned loose a winner here. The first flavour is just like the aroma, creamy banana which is well blended to match it’s real life counterpart (no foam bananas here) enough sweetness to give the banana a ripe feel. Held at the apex, fresh segments of strawberry pieces add a juicy twist.

Exhale – The banana milkshake flavour holds strong throughout the exhale, with a light chill from that coolada it adds a great level of detail to the vape. It’s not mentholly at all, just refrigerator cool. The strawberry that snuck in at the end of the inhale raises to the surface and adds that same sweet juicy lift without losing too much of the creamy milkshake element. A good head of clouds to round off this unique flavour profile.

Conclusion – I’m impressed with this juice. It was a bold step that seemingly everyone else has avoided (why I don’t know?) matching a chilled layer to a cold beverage enhances the realism of the profile and Shadow Juice have got just the right amount to do that. The banana is brilliant and strawberry adds a fresh twist but this is where I’m conflicted. Milkshakes to me are super sweet, liquid icecream affairs but what The Shake feels is a lightly milked smoothie, OK that maybe splitting hairs to some but if there was a way to give an icecream base and a spoon of extra sugar that would really boost the milkshake element to me but it all depends on what kind of shake you enjoy yourself. I would always choose a smoothie over a shake so this juice is perfect for me but from a consumer perspective I thought it was worth mentioning. I’m actually really pleased to see Shadow Vapes make such a good effort with this tricky profile and add another fine juice to their line up. I don’t vape one flavour very long (goes with the job!) but The Shake is coming with me tomorrow and it’ll be the first 30ml bottle I’ve gone through in some time.
